Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow is a supernatural crime drama based on Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod Crane, a ColonialArmy soldier in 1781, is on a mission for George Washington. During an encounter with the Headless Horseman, Crane and the horseman kill each other. As they die, their blood mixes together. Over 230 years after Crane and the horseman die, the horseman comes back to life, followed by Crane. Since Ichabod and the horseman each has some of the others’ blood running through their veins, they’re resurrected at the same time.

The Headless Horseman returns to Sleepy Hollow to wreak havoc on the town and its residents. Ichabod returns to Sleepy Hollow and soon learns that the Headless Horseman is only part of the evil that was let loose in the small town when he and the horseman were resurrected. In the present day Sleepy Hollow, Lt. Abbie Mills, a lifelong resident of the town is about to transfer to the FBI when her friend and partner Sheriff August Corbin is beheaded by the horseman.

Since Ichabod Crane is from the 18th century, he has to adjust to life in the modern age, with some occasional humorous results. He meets Abbie Mills, and they learn that they’re the two witnesses who must save Sleepy Hollow from all the powers of evil. There’s a lot of friction between the two as they work to discover the truth about the coming apocalypse and how to prevent it. Crane and Mills discover two occult groups existing in Sleepy Hollow. One group is good, the other evil. Both groups have ties to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Ichabod and Abbie get assistance from Captain Irving, the town’s chief of police who is enlisted to help in the battle against the horseman and his evil forces. Abbie’s sister Jenny gets involved as they fight demons, witches, plagues and explore a haunted house.

Tom Mison portrays Ichabod Crane, a history professor at Oxford University before the American Revolution. Crane arrived in the American colonies with the British but changed his allegiance and became an American spy. Cranes knowledge about the supernatural and traditions in the 18th century make him a valuable asset in the battle against the evil in Sleepy Hollow.

The part of Lt. Grace Abigail Mills is played by Nicole Beharie. When her partner is viciously murdered by the Headless Horseman, Abbie and Ichabod join forces to fight the evil that’s invading the small town.

Orlando Jones plays the skeptical Captain Frank Irving of the local police force. He also has ties to the New York State Police. He finds the claims of Crane and Mills ludicrous until the three confront and battle the horseman.

Katia Winter plays Katrina Crane, Ichabod’s wife. Katrina is secretly a witch who cast an evil spell on Ichabod that made him bound to the horseman. Katrina is revealed to Ichabod in dreams and claims she’s in limbo between the modern world and the 18th century. When Katrina manages to escape her prison with the assistance of Ichabod and Abbie, the horseman soon captures her.

Lyndie Greenwood portrays Abbie’s emotionally troubled sister Jenny. As children, they saw the second horseman come to life. Jenny spent years in a mental institution. After a brief escape, she returns to the facility. Jenny finally confides to Abbie that she was possessed by a demonic force at one time with orders to kill her sister. Abbie tells her that she believes what they saw as children and will get her released from the facility legally. Jenny becomes involved in helping Ichabod and Abbie solve the mysteries.

John Noble is playing dual roles as Henry Parrish and Jeremy Crane. A recurring character in the first season, he’s a regular cast member on the second season. Jeremy Crane is the second of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and Katrina and Ichabod’s son. Jeremy has hostile feelings toward his parents since he was a Sin Eater and trapped inside a coffin for two hundred years. Jeremy helps Ichabod to end the curse that connects him with the Headless Horseman.
