Premise

Even though his father, retired Police Commissioner Henry Reagan, is still living with him, Frank is pretty much the patriarch of this Irish-American clan. Frank’s son, Detective First Grade Danny Reagan, is the NYPD’s hotshot, and at times hotheaded, cop. Daughter Erin is a Manhattan assistant district attorney whose lot in life seems to be prosecuting most of Danny’s criminal arrests. Frank’s youngest boy, Jamie, is a Harvard Law School graduate but prefers to follow in the family’s footsteps. He is a rookie cop. Each episode features the Reagan family discussing the day’s event, dilemmas and disagreements at the dinner table. Sharing a meal together at least once a week is a Reagan family ritual, which also includes the grandchildren who get to have their say. At the end of the day and after a hard day’s work, this family show their support and love for one another without fail.

Blue Bloods Cast of Characters

Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) is the Police Commissioner of New York City and father of three adult children. His son Joe was killed in the line of duty in 2009. Frank possesses a certain ease but is not afraid to take on the mayor, reporters or people of influence if he feels they are out of line. He’s a fair and honest man who cares deeply about his family, the citizens of New York City and his police department.

Detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) is Frank’s oldest son. He is married with two sons, a former Marine in Operation Enduring Freedom. Danny is a cop whose rough methods sometimes get him into hot water on the job. He often bumps heads with his sister, the ADA. Still, he does not care. Danny wants results by any means necessary. On the other hand, he can be compassionate when the right circumstance presents itself.

Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) is a divorced mother of one daughter. Unlike Danny, Erin does everything by the book. Throughout the series, Erin has found herself in some harrowing situations such as nearly getting raped and killed or taken hostage at the courthouse.

Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) is the youngest child of Frank Regan and is also a cop. Like his father, Jamie chooses to remain silent on his political beliefs. A Harvard graduate who would rather do police work, Jamie is a little disappointed in not having made detective yet especially not at the quick pace demonstrated by his father and brother.

Henry Reagan (Len Cariou) is the father of Frank. He is the grandfather of Danny, Erin and Jamie. His great-grandchildren are Nikki, Sean and Jack. He too is a retired NYPD Police Commissioner. Members of the Reagan family often look to Henry for advice, which he carries by the boatload. There is actually only a six year age difference between Cariou and Selleck, so make-up and a dental prosthetic are used to help Cariou appear older.

Linda Reagan (Amy Carlson) is the loving and patient wife of Danny Reagan and the mother of their two sons, Sean and Jack. In Seasons 1 and 2, she was a stay-at-home mom but has since returned to her job as a nurse.

Nikki Reagan-Boyle (Sami Gayle) is the college-bound daughter of Erin Reagan. Nikki is a very inquisitive young lady and is looking forward to wearing a police uniform one day.

Detective Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) became Danny’s partner in Season 3, replacing actress Jennifer Esposito who played Detective Jackie Curatola.
